Online Home Retreat November 7th & 15th

His Holiness Lama Achuk Rinpoche who is the Root Lama of Gyalwai Nyugu Rinpoche once said “To achieve the attainment of one’s own mind being in union with our Root Lama is what we should pursue throughout our life.” Therefore, we should practice and realize the guidance on the right mindfulness and awareness we received from our Guru. Only through proper realization it is possible to realize the benefits from the teachings, to be liberated and obtain Buddhahood.
We usually follow the Yachen & Achen Monastery tradition, and as follows, we begin early in the morning; however, each participant may enter into retreat at his or her own pace and home flexibly.
The Guru Yoga we practice is the Guru Yoga of Gyalwai Nyugu Rinpoche: Rain of Blessings, according to the precious teaching of Lama Rinpoche.

The online Eight Precepts Home Retreat continues in November.

Lhabab Düchen, one of the four great holy days of the Buddhist calendar, takes place this year on November 7th.
Lhabab Düchen celebrates Guru Shakyamuni Buddha’s return to Earth from the God Realm of the Thirty-Three after teaching Dharma for several months to the gods, including his mother, Mayadevi, who had died a week after Buddha’s birth and been reborn there. This return is regarded as one of the eight greatest deeds of the Buddha by Tibetans, and it was done out of compassion for humanity. It is this descent back to our troubled world which is celebrated on Lhabab Duchen. According to the Vinaya text Treasure of Quotations and Logic, this is a merit multiplying day and the karmic results of actions done on this day are multiplied 100 million times. Therefore, it would be a great time to practice together for the sake of all sentient beings.

Many Dharma masters encouraged the observation of the Eight Precepts during the auspicious merit multiplying days. This means that any compassionate or righteous action performed on this day is multiplied by 10 million in its spiritual power. Given the auspiciousness (düchen), we chose the days of 7th and of 15th November for our one-day online retreat.

Dates of the retreats:
1. November the 7th 2020: Lhabab Düchen celebrates Guru Shakyamuni Buddha’s return to Earth from the God Realm of the Thirty-Three after teaching Dharma for his mother, Mayadevi. As a merit multiplying day, the karmic results of actions done on this day are multiplied 100 million times
2. November the 15th 2020, Buddha Shakyamuni Day. This is the 30th day of the 9th month in the Tibetan calendar. During this day karmic effects of positive actions are multiplied 900 million times.

Please pay attention and check your email one or two days before the retreat. Those participating in the retreat for the first time must attend a small ZOOM meeting one day before the retreat for further instructions. All information regarding the meeting will be sent via email.

Regarding the Precepts: Please read the detailed Eight Precepts before the retreat in the case you are not too familiar with them. You can also download the information by clicking the following link:

Obeserve the Eight Precepts: Every person should take the precepts before sunrise in front of any representation of the Buddha. Alternatively, one can watch Rinpoche´s video on the Eight Precepts, in Tibetan language, by clicking the following YouTube link:

It is considered acceptable if you are not able to join all group practice sessions, however you are instructed to complete 4 individual sessions of Guru Yoga according to Yachen/Achen lineage tradition. Please take notice that the duration of the meditation should not be less than 30 minutes.

During the retreat, we usually practice Dharma Protector Offering and the Tsok Offering, For the practices, everyone can individually prepare the vegan food of one´s choice (for example, the dairy products are welcome but egg is forbidden).

One could chant “Om Mani Padma Hum” or other mantras according to one’s personal practice. We will however not ask you or request you the number of chanted mantras. It is wonderful to follow the tradition of Yachen/Achen lineage which is a unique method of practice.

We must observe a particularly important precept which is fasting after noon during this day.
